Mass. arm wrestling champion pleads not guilty to charges stemming from wife's death
UXBRIDGE, Mass. - A champion arm wrestler has been ordered held without bail in Massachusetts after pleading not guilty to manslaughter and other charges in connection with the death of his wife.
Allen Stilkey was arraigned Monday in Uxbridge District Court.
Prosecutors say Stilkey and his wife, Lisa, were involved a heated argument late Thursday night.
Authorities say Lisa Stilkey threw a pillow out a second-floor window of their Douglas home before jumping out herself in an attempt to flee from her husband.
She suffered severe injuries and was taken to a hospital, where she was pronounced dead early Friday.
Allen Stilkey was arrested later Friday and held over the weekend on $500,000 bail.
His lawyer says Stilkey was not responsible for his wife's death.
According to the American Armsport Association website, Stilkey took first place in his weight class at the group's 2010 national championships.
